Singapore Airlines to Fly Nonstop to Seattle
Seattleites flying to Asia: You’ve been upgraded. The world’s most awarded airline today announced new, nonstop flights from the Emerald City to Singapore, becoming the fifth gateway in Singapore Airlines’ U.S. network when the new services are introduced next year. The move brings a new level of inflight luxury and service to the Seattle market, and is part of a 42 percent increase in SIA flight frequency from the United States, the largest expansion in the carrier’s U.S. history.
The nonstop Seattle-Singapore flights are due to launch on September 3, 2019 and will initially be operated three times per week before increasing to four times per week in October 2019. Airbus A350-900 aircraft will be used on the route, fitted with 42 Business Class, 24 Premium Economy Class and 187 Economy Class seats.
Subject to regulatory approvals, flight SQ27 will initially depart Seattle at 10:40 a.m. (Pacific) every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and arrive in Singapore at 5:30 p.m. on the next day (all times local). The return sector, operated as SQ28, will depart Singapore at 9:25 a.m. every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and arrive in Seattle the same day at 9:05 a.m. (Pacific). From October 2019, flight SQ28 and flight SQ27 will operate every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
“Our new nonstop flights to Seattle are another demonstration of our commitment to expand our operations in the important U.S. market and grow our network reach. The new services will also further strengthen the Singapore hub by providing customers faster and more convenient connectivity from key markets such as Southeast Asia, South Asia and Australasia to North America,” said Singapore Airlines CEO, Mr. Goh Choon Phong.
The new Seattle flights will complement Singapore Airlines’ existing services to the U.S. cities of Houston, Los Angeles, New York (both JFK and Newark airports) and San Francisco. Singapore Airlines recently introduced daily nonstop flights between New York (Newark) and Singapore and from tomorrow will fly nonstop between Los Angeles and Singapore using Airbus A350-900ULR (ultra-long-range) aircraft. Existing nonstop services to Singapore from San Francisco will also be increased from seven to 10 flights per week from November 28, 2018. Singapore Airlines is a codeshare partner of Alaska Airlines, and Mileage Plan members are eligible to earn miles on Singapore Airlines flights.
Singapore Airlines will operate 53 flights per week from the U.S. by December 2018, including 27 nonstop U.S.-Singapore services. With the introduction of the new Seattle flights next year, total U.S. frequency will increase to 57 flights per week. Tickets will be available for sale progressively from November 7, 2018 through the various distribution channels.
